xTool F2 Fiber Laser Review: Is This Desktop Metal Engraver Worth It?
Hands-on review of the xTool F2 fiber laser engraver. We test its metal marking capability on steel, aluminum, titanium, and gold, and evaluate the Creative Space software.

The xTool F2 is a compact desktop fiber laser engraver aimed at small businesses, jewelers, and makers who need to mark and engrave metals. At approximately $4,500 for the 20W model, it sits in the mid-range of desktop fiber lasers. After two months of daily use, here is our detailed assessment.
On stainless steel, the F2 produces clean, high-contrast marks at speeds that make small-batch production viable. Deep engraving on hardened steel takes multiple passes but the results are comparable to machines costing twice as much. Aluminum anodized surfaces respond particularly well, producing bright white marks against dark backgrounds.
The xTool Creative Space software has improved significantly since its early versions. It now supports rotary attachment control, batch processing from CSV files, and basic parametric design tools. However, it still lacks the advanced path optimization found in LightBurn, which many users prefer as an alternative.
Build quality is solid for the price point. The enclosed design with integrated fume extraction port is a significant advantage for indoor use. The autofocus system works reliably on flat surfaces, though curved objects require manual focus adjustment. Overall, the F2 is a strong contender in the desktop fiber laser category.
